Questions emerge on Victor Boniface’s future at Bayer Leverkusen

Fresh questions have emerged on the future of Victor Boniface at Bayer Leverkusen as the June 2025 transfer window draws closer.

Victor Boniface’s future at Bayer Leverkusen is hanging in the balance as the summer transfer window heats up.

The Nigerian striker, who played a pivotal role in Leverkusen’s historic unbeaten Bundesliga title win in the 2023/24 season, could be on the move if the right offer comes in.

Boniface’s debut season in Germany was nothing short of spectacular. He netted 14 goals in 23 league appearances, helping Leverkusen clinch their first-ever Bundesliga title.

In January, Boniface was on the verge of a lucrative move to Saudi Arabian club Al Nassr, with reports suggesting a €60-70 million deal and a €15 million annual salary.

However, the transfer collapsed at the final hurdle, with Al Nassr opting to sign Aston Villa’s Jhon Duran instead.

Now, with the summer window open, Leverkusen are reportedly open to selling Boniface for around €50 million.

The club has already signed young forward Christian Kofane and plans to retain Patrik Schick, who is set to be the main striker under new head coach Erik ten Hag.

According to reports Premier League clubs, including Newcastle United, have shown interest in Boniface.

The Magpies are in the market for a striker as they prepare for life after Callum Wilson, and Boniface has emerged as a potential target.

Boniface’s time at Leverkusen has not been without controversy. Reports have highlighted instances of on-field disagreements and concerns about his behavior, which may influence the club’s decision to sell.

With the transfer market in full swing, Boniface’s future remains uncertain. Whether he stays in Germany or moves to a new league, the coming weeks will be crucial in determining the next chapter of his career.
