Cheslin Kolbe is hands-down South Africa’s most valuable player, and much of the Springboks’ success will depend on him staying fit and doing what he’s been doing.
The twinkle-toed 31-year-old stepped his way past five defenders in his 80-minute shift against the Barbarians, and on one occasion, showed his strength by putting the Barbarians hooker on the floor.
Kolbe also made an impressive 139 metres during the non-cap match, in which he was named Man of the Match.
The Bok speedster is expected to continue his flourishing back-three relationship with Kurt-Lee Arendse and Aphelele Fassi when the Test season starts proper against Italy at Loftus this weekend.
State of the Boks: Milestones beckon in blockbuster season
The likes of Handre Pollard, Damian Willemse and Grant Williams are all expected to feature in the two-Test series against the Azzuri as well.
