Touchline Hails Bafana Bafana’s Historic World Cup Return. South African rapper Touchline captured the nation’s mood with a triumphant post as Bafana Bafana clinched a place at the 2026 FIFA World Cup.

“South Africa qualifies for the FIFA World Cup for the first time since 2002. This is an incredible achievement. Even with 3 points taken from us. Mzansi, we should be proud! Against All Odds. On Tuesday night, Hugo Broos’ side beat Rwanda 3–0 to seal top spot in CAF Group C and book a ticket to the finals in Canada, Mexico, and the United States. Oswin Appollis, Thalente Mbatha, and Evidence Makgopa found the net as South Africa finished the job on home soil. Results elsewhere fell SA’s way, with Nigeria’s win over Benin removing the final obstacle to an automatic berth.

The celebration hits even harder given the turbulence of this qualifying campaign. FIFA docked Bafana Bafana three points for fielding a suspended player earlier in the cycle, flipping a win into a forfeit and briefly pushing South Africa down the table. The setback could have derailed momentum. Instead, Broos’ men steadied themselves, tightened up defensively, and closed out the group with authority. This qualification is historic for two reasons. It marks South Africa’s first successful World Cup qualifying campaign since 2002. Their last appearance at the tournament came in 2010 as hosts, which did not require qualification.
