Bok legend: Cheslin Kolbe

Cheslin Kolbe, who turns 32 today, has redefined the perception of what small backs can achieve in rugby.

Revered for his elusiveness, the winger has dazzled with an electric side-step and explosive pace, leaving a legacy of game-changing moments.

His contributions include scoring tries in critical games like the 2019 World Cup final and the third Test of the 2021 British & Irish Lions series, and helping to secure another World Cup triumph in 2023.

ON THIS DAY: Boks go back-to-back

Kolbe’s performances in 2024 earned him the SA Rugby Player of the Year award and a nomination for the World Rugby award, solidifying his reputation as one of the most dangerous runners in rugby history.

Going into the Boks’ 2025 end-of-year tour, he had scored 21 tries in 46 Tests.
