DJ Speedsta Calls Out Disrespect Among Young SA Hip Hop Artists After The K.Keed Dispute. DJ Speedsta says the biggest issue behind his recent rift with K Keed is not one studio moment, but a growing pattern of disrespect he sees from younger voices in South African hip hop.

Speaking on The Sobering Podcast, the 5FM Hip Hop Nights host argued that social media has created a gap between real-life civility and online bravado, and that too many newcomers are comfortable speaking recklessly to industry veterans.
“Social media is the problem because half of the people that I have fought with on social media, when I see them, it is a different story; it is all love. I guess back to the K.Keed situation, that is why sometimes I have to say something because I genuinely do not bother anybody, I do not call anybody, I mind my own business.
“I do what I gotta do, right? So why is it like that you sometimes feel like you can come at me sideways? What are you talking about? I have never called you in my life. I have never spoken to you in my life. What is it that makes younger people in SA Hip Hop think that they can talk to me however they like? I do not understand it. I do not know you, I do not call you, I do not follow you.
“What is it that makes you think that you can always speak to me however you like? I do not like that. I am a human being, I have feelings, I am a father.”
Speedsta’s comments were prompted by the fallout from K Keed’s decision not to freestyle on his live show, which later sparked heated exchanges on X. He framed that flashpoint as proof of a wider generational issue, saying that clout chasing often replaces basic professionalism and respect. In person, he added, those same critics are usually cordial, which exposes the disconnect between timelines and real life.
For Speedsta, the standard is simple. Artists can decline a freestyle or disagree with a host, but they should do so without personal jabs or public grandstanding. He positions himself as someone who keeps to his lane, and expects the same courtesy in return.
