Former Wales captain Dan Biggar says as brilliant as Sacha Feinberg-Mngomezulu is, there is still one area where the Bok pivot needs to sharpen up ahead of the World Cup.
Feinberg-Mngomezulu truly made the Springbok No.10 jersey his own in September, when he tore Argentina apart in Durban with a record-breaking 37-point haul in the Rugby Championship. Since then, his grip on the position has only tightened, to the point where it now feels almost unthinkable that anyone will prise it from him before the 2027 World Cup.

The 23-year-old also pulled the strings in the Stormers’ 42-21 Investec Champions Cup win over La Rochelle at the Nelson Mandela Bay Stadium on Saturday, assisting four tries – more than any other player across the weekend – as the Cape side surged to the top of Pool 3.
Yet speaking on The Rugby Pod this week, Biggar – a 112-cap Wales flyhalf who knows exactly what elite Test flyhalves are judged on – suggested Feinberg-Mngomezulu’s goalkicking remains the one part of his game that can still climb.
“His overall game, you can’t find a weakness, because he is absolutely on fire, brilliant footwork, brilliant pace, power, ability to break a game up, ability to control a game, his kicking game,” Biggar said.
“The one thing that could be interesting moving forward is his kicking percentage for the Springboks this year is about 70 per cent off the tee. I think that’s the only thing in his game, if you’re looking at it objectively, where he can improve, because there are very few areas he can improve in his general game.
“But you look at how South Africa won the last World Cup by a point in the quarters, a point in the semis and a point in the final, you probably need that stat to be pushing 80 per cent rather than 70 per cent.”
