Black Coffee Claps Back At Calls To Fund Bravo Le Roux’s Repatriation From Switzerland. The South African music fraternity is reeling from the death of rapper Bravo Le Roux, born Sinesipho Peter, as grief over his passing collides with a heated online debate involving international DJ and producer Black Coffee.

Bravo Le Roux, a 30-year-old hip-hop artist from Khayelitsha, celebrated for his grassroots impact on the local scene, died in Switzerland on January 22, 2026. His family confirmed the heartbreaking news soon after, with reports stating that his death was by suicide.
In the days that followed, his wife, DJ Sab (Sabrina), turned to GoFundMe to raise funds for the costly process of returning his body to South Africa, while also seeking support for their young daughter and funeral arrangements. Repatriation costs alone are believed to start at around R300,000, with additional expenses tied to legal processes and international transport pushing the figure even higher.
The fundraising effort has prompted an outpouring of support from fans, fellow artists, and members of the public, many determined to help bring the rapper home. What began as a collective show of solidarity soon shifted tone when a social media user aimed at Black Coffee, questioning why the globally successful DJ had not stepped in to cover the costs.
The post, shared by X user @amahle___ (Ms Mofokeng), spread rapidly and sparked intense online discussion. In it, she argued that Black Coffee’s wealth positioned him to resolve the situation quickly, framing his silence as unfair to the grieving family.
Black Coffee addressed the mounting pressure with a brief but firm response, telling critics that they needed to leave him alone. “At some point you gonna have to leave me alone,” Black Coffee responded.

Reactions to the exchange have been sharply divided. Many users defended Black Coffee, stressing that he has no known personal connection to Bravo Le Roux and should not be publicly obligated to intervene financially.
Others highlighted the absence of adequate insurance or funeral cover and suggested that state mechanisms, including the Department of International Relations and Cooperation, as well as broader community fundraising, were more appropriate channels.
At the same time, some voices online have supported the public appeal, pointing to Black Coffee’s standing as one of South Africa’s most prominent global success stories and his long-standing reputation for generosity. For them, the issue goes beyond obligation and speaks to compassion during a moment of profound loss.
As of February 2, 2026, the GoFundMe campaign remains open, with the family continuing to appeal for assistance.
