Expanding Access to Quality Education Through Offline-First Innovation

At Asante Africa Foundation, we believe access to quality education should not be limited by geography or connectivity. Meaningful progress requires partnerships that address systemic barriers and deliver practical, context-responsive solutions for learners and educators.

Since 2021, we have partnered with Learning Equality, an edtech nonprofit organization focused on building equity in education. Through this collaboration, Learning Equality supports our in-country programs by providing digital learning content and the Kolibri platform, an offline-first learning ecosystem that enables effective teaching and learning without the Internet. Together, we are expanding access to student-centered digital learning in low-resource environments.

A Partnership Advancing Blended Learning

Asante Africa Foundation works with Learning Equality to integrate curriculum-aligned digital content into education programs using the Kolibri learning platform. Kolibri enables learners to engage with structured lessons, assessments, and self-directed resources offline, while educators use built-in tools to assign content, monitor progress, and tailor instruction to diverse learner needs.

At the program level, Kolibri supports implementation and monitoring across multiple learning sites. Program administrators are able to track usage and learner progress, identify effective practices, and strengthen the delivery of blended learning models. This approach supports both classroom-level instruction and broader systems strengthening.

The partnership is grounded in a shared commitment to equity, open educational resources, and learner-centered education. By combining Learning Equality’s offline-first technology with Asante Africa Foundation’s community-based programming, the collaboration extends quality learning opportunities to learners who face persistent barriers to digital access.

About Learning Equality

Learning Equality is an edtech nonprofit organization committed to enabling every person to achieve a quality basic education. Founded in 2013, the organization was established to address global connectivity gaps through the development of offline-first education technology designed for low-resource contexts.

Learning Equality’s work focuses on building adaptable digital platforms, supporting educators in blended learning practices, and promoting the use of open educational resources. Central to this effort is Kolibri, an ecosystem of open digital tools that provides access to curriculum-aligned content in over 173 languages and supports teaching and learning without the need for Internet connectivity.

Through its technology, educator support, and systems-level approach, Learning Equality advances more inclusive, student-centered learning models that respond to the needs of historically and systemically marginalized communities.
