South African rapper Nadia Nakai, affectionately known as Bragga, has put an end to swirling dating rumours with fellow artist Toss following the release of steamy behind-the-scenes images from a recent music video shoot.
In a candid and heartfelt appearance on the L-Tido Podcast, Nadia Nakai addressed the speculation head-on, clarifying that the intimate photos—which sparked widespread chatter across social media—were purely promotional material for Toss’s new love song featuring Elaine.
“I’m not dating Toss,” Nadia stated firmly during the interview. “And I feel like you (L-Tido) should understand this more than anything because of the industry, probably the time we even came from. It’s a video promoting his new song featuring Elaine. It’s a love song, and he asked me to come and be the video vixen in the video. And the images we took, we didn’t expect them to blow up the way they did.”
When pressed on why she thought such passionate visuals wouldn’t generate massive attention, Nakai opened up about her personal struggles with self-perception in the spotlight.
“I think I have imposter syndrome where I actually don’t understand the value of me,” she explained. “I just feel like I’m just another person. I don’t understand that I’m Bragga. I have to remind myself that people are gonna give a damn about me. For me, I don’t see it like that. I’m just like ooh Toss is my baby. I love him so much. I’m going to do this because he’s such an amazing person.”
The Johannesburg-born star emphasised her supportive role in the industry, describing herself as a mentor figure to emerging talents. “There are a lot of new acts that have come up that have become like under my wing. Like I’m big mama to them,” she said. “But I’m not dating Toss. I support everything that he does. I will always be the number one cheerleader.”
