DJ Zan-D Announces The End Of Exclusive DJ Packs Distribution. South African radio personality, club DJ, music producer, and tastemaker DJ Zan-D has announced the conclusion of his popular DJ packs distribution program, which has played a pivotal role in promoting local hip hop.

In a post shared on X, Zan-D reflected on two years of dedication supplying exclusive promotional packs to more than 200 DJs across the country. These packs often featured unreleased tracks, exclusive drops, and fresh music primed for club and radio play.
“After 2 years of distributing DJ packs to 200+ DJs across SA, I’ve decided to step back from the initiative,” he wrote. “It’s been a great run, but it’s time to redirect my energy elsewhere. DJs can now make their own packs. Moving forward, packs will only be sent on special artist or label request.”
The initiative, run through direct outreach, broadcast lists, and community engagement, was instrumental in supporting South African hip hop. By delivering ready-to-play material, especially to DJs in areas where access to new music is limited, Zan-D helped break tracks, increase airplay, and encourage spins for local artists at clubs, on radio, and during events. His past messages emphasised his commitment to the scene, including calls to rebuild the game and ensure hip hop reached new corners of the country.
Zan-D’s decision arrives while he continues to make waves in the industry. As a co-host on YFM’s Hip Hop Show and a regular contributor to the station’s YTKO feature, he remains a key figure in Mzansi’s music landscape. His work includes chart-topping productions, high-profile performances alongside international acts, and curating events such as Boom Bap: A Hip Hop Experience in Soweto, celebrating golden-era sounds and local talent.
The move marks a new chapter for both Zan-D and the DJs who have relied on his packs. Encouraging DJs to create and curate their own collections highlights the growing independence offered by modern digital tools for sourcing and sharing music. His impact on grassroots promotion of South African hip hop, however, is lasting.
Although routine pack distributions will end, Zan-D confirmed that special packs for artists or labels will still be available on request. Fans have responded with gratitude, praising him for going further than many to uplift the scene. With this transition, Zan-D opens space for others to step up and continue shaping South Africa’s vibrant hip hop culture.
