Nigerian Afrobeat superstar Davido has joined the chorus of public outrage following a viral video depicting a brutal bullying incident at the Igbinedion Education Centre in Benin City.

The singer, known for his vocal stance on social issues, took to social media to express his disgust after footage surfaced showing two students physically assaulting a classmate.

Reacting to the graphic video, Davido did not mince words, labeling the perpetrators as “Fucking animals” and describing the entire scene as “so disgusting.”

What happened at the Igbinedion Education Centre?

The viral footage, which began circulating on Friday, March 13, 2026, shows a defenseless student being subjected to severe physical abuse. In the video, the victim is seen being:

  • Flogged and repeatedly kicked in the stomach.
  • Hit against the ground.
  • Stamped on the head and ribs by two other male students while a third student filmed the assault.
The level of violence depicted in the video sparked immediate condemnation from Nigerians across the globe, with many calling for criminal prosecution alongside school disciplinary measures.
    School Management and Government Response
In a swift response to the outcry, the management of Igbinedion Education Centre issued a statement late Friday night confirming the incident.

The behavior shown in the video is deeply disturbing and stands in direct violation of the values and standards we uphold. Following an immediate investigation, the students responsible have been EXPELLED with immediate effect,” the statement read.

The Edo State Government has also stepped in, with the Ministry of Education setting up a five-man committee to investigate the systemic causes of the incident.

Additionally, the Edo State Police Command has invited the victim’s parents to file a formal complaint to begin a criminal investigation, noting that while the students are minors, the severity of the assault warrants legal oversight.

Davido’s reaction mirrors the sentiment of thousands of social media users who have called for a complete overhaul of anti-bullying policies in private institutions.

As of Sunday, March 15, 2026, the school remains under heavy scrutiny as the government committee begins its probe into the school’s supervision protocols.
