Former Sharks and Bulls utility back Boeta Chamberlain ran out for the Newcastle Red Bulls in a 28-27 defeat to the Northampton Saints at Franklin’s Gardens.

Four South Africans started for the Sale Sharks in their 26-14 loss to the Exeter Chiefs. Captain and lock Ernst van Rhyn and No 8 Dan du Preez dotted down for the visitors, while Rob du Preez started at flyhalf and Marius Louw in the midfield.

A Faf de Klerk first-half hat-trick inspired the Canon Eagles to a 38-29 win against the Kobe Steelers in Hyogo.
Lukhanyo Am‘s second-half try saw the Mitsubishi Dynaboars edge the Suntory Sungoliath 35-32 in Tokyo. Cheslin Kolbe kicked seven points for the Sungoliath, while Pieter Scholtz provided front-row reinforcement for the Dynaboars.
Wing Maurice Marks bagged a brace of tries as the Saitama Wild Knights cruised to a 31-7 win against the Tokyo Black Rams. Damian de Allende ran out in midfield, while Juan Wilson featured off the bench for the Wild Knights.
Six South Africans ran out for the Kubota Spears in their 59-35 win against the Urayasu D-Rocks in Tokyo. Malcom Marx, Tyler Paul, Ruan Botha (who scored two tries) and Merwe Olivier scrummed down for the Spears, with Rikus Pretorius and Gerhard van den Heever starting in the backline.
Franco Mostert‘s Honda Heat came from behind to beat the Toshiba Brave Lupus 24-22 in Tokyo. Prop Matthys Basson and centre Dawid Kellerman also featured for the Heat.
Kwagga Smith crossed the whitewash in the Shizuoka Blue Revs’ 34-24 win against the Toyota Verblitz in Aichi. Sylvian Mahuza started at centre for the Blue Revs.
