La Rochelle captain Dillyn Leyds crossed the whitewash in a 26-15 defeat to Bayonne.

Prop Carlü Sadie, lock Tiaan Jacobs and centre Rohan Janse van Rensburg featured for Bordeaux Bègles in their 21-17 win against Lyon. Flanker Arno Botha and lock Janse Roux packed down for Lyon.

STATE OF EURO CUPS: Stormers, Bulls on collision course

Replacement scrumhalf James Hall and former SWD Eagles prop Nemo Roelofse featured off the bench in Perpignan’s 36-20 win against Toulon at the Stade Aime Giral.

Former Sharks centre Jeremy Ward started for Stade Français in their 64-20 thrashing of Clermont at the Stade Jean Bouin.

English Premiership
Seven South Africans were involved in the match between the Sale Sharks and Bath in Salford, won 31-26 by the visitors. Springbok prop Thomas du Toit anchored the Bath scrum, while replacement scrumhalf Bernard van der Linde dotted down in the second half. Lock Ernst van Rhyn and loose forwards Jacques Vermeulen and Dan du Preez scrummed down for Sale, with Marius Louw and Rob du Preez, who scored a first half-try, in midfield.

Lock JJ van der Mescht‘s Northampton Saints edged Saracens 21-17 in London. Scrumhalf Ivan van Zyl captained Sarries.

Loosehead prop Simon Kerrod packed down for Harlequins in an 18-14 win against centre Benhard Janse van Rensburg‘s Bristol Bears at the Millennium Stadium in Cardiff.

Bulls-bound flank Hanro Liebenberg started at lock for the Leicester Tigers in their 36-17 win against Gloucester. Prop Dian Bleuler made an impact as a Gloucester substitute, powering over for a late try.

SACS-schooled loosehead prop Ethan Burger ran out for the Exeter Chiefs in a dominant 38-14 win against the Newcastle Red Bulls at Kingston Park.

Japan Rugby League One
Six South Africans featured in the Kubota Spears’ 51-7 win against the Brave Lupus in Tokyo. Malcolm Marx, Ruan Botha, David Bulbring, Merwe Olivier and Tyler Paul were among the forwards, while centre Rikus Pretorius scored a brace of tries.

Kwagga Smith‘s Shizuoka Blue Revs lost 41-20 to the Kobe Steelers in Shizuoka. Centre Sylvian Mahuza scored a late consolation try for the Blue Revs.

Cheslin Kolbe scored 22 points as the Suntory Sungoliath lost 36-34 to Damian de Allende‘s Saitama Wild Knights in Tokyo. Juan Wilson was at flank for the Wild Knights.

Springbok scrumhalf Faf de Klerk continued his superb run of form since returning from injury with a try and six points from the tee as the Canon Eagles fell 27-3 to the Toyota Verblitz in Kanagawa.

Centre Lukhanyo Am and prop Pieter Scholtz ran out for the Mitsubishi Dynaboars in a 33-7 loss to the Black Rams Tokyo. Am dotted down in the second half.

Lock Franco Mostert captained the Honda Heat to a 43-17 win against No 8 Jasper Wiese‘s Urayasu D-Rocks in Miyagi. Matthys Basson was at tighthead prop for the Heat, while centre Dawid Kellerman bagged a double.

Springbok flyhalf Manie Libbok scored 19 points as the Kintetsu Liners smashed the Kamaishi Seawaves 59-31  in Osaka.
