Glasgow load big guns for Stormers

After being smashed by the Lions, the Glasgow Warriors are preparing to hit back hard against the Stormers in Cape Town on Saturday.

Assistant coach Scott Forrest confirmed that head coach Franco Smith has delayed naming his side in order to give key players every chance of proving their fitness.

“Obviously, we rotated quite heavily last weekend for the Lions and then the plan was always to then change back,” said Forrest.

That means the Stormers could now face a near full-strength Glasgow outfit in a clash that could have massive implications in the race for home playoffs.

The log leaders are sweating over the fitness of scrumhalf George Horne, lock Scott Cummings and No 8 Matt Fagerson, but Forrest made it clear they are doing everything possible to get them ready.

“They are still not 100% but we’re going to give them as much time as possible.

“Anyone who can be involved is going to be good for us, so we’ve held off naming the team just to give these players as much time as possible to be fit and available.”

SCHALLA: Gaza wasted on the wing

There’s also a major boost looming for Glasgow with Sione Tuipulotu and Huw Jones set to reunite in midfield and winger Kyle Steyn set to return after being rested last week.

“Last week was a good time for him to reset,” Forrest said. “He will come back in this weekend.”

Glasgow sit four points clear of the Stormers at the top of the standings, while both sides head into the clash desperate for a response after damaging defeats last weekend.
