Five South Africans featured for the Sale Sharks in their 52-33 win against Harelquins. Captain Ernst van Rhyn started at lock with Jacques Vermeulen on the flank, while Rob du Preez marshalled the midfield alongside Marius Louw. Hyron Andrews scored a try after coming on as a replacement flank.
Bulls-bound flank Hanro Liebenberg started for the Leicester Tigers in a 19-15 loss to Saracens. Scrumhalf Ivan van Zyl featured as a replacement for Sarries.
An 83rd-minute penalty goal was the decider as the Northampton Saints edged Johann van Graan’s Bath 41-38. Scrumhalf Bernard van der Linde started for Bath with prop Francois van Wyk coming off the bench, while JJ van der Mescht was a replacement lock for Saints.
Former Stormers hooker Joseph Dweba packed down alongside prop Ethan Burger in the Exeter Chiefs’ 34-31 loss to Gloucester. Prop Dian Bleuler and loose forward James Venter featured for Gloucester.

Springbok No 8 Jasper Wiese captained the Urayasu D-Rocks in a 49-26 defeat to the Shizuoka Blue Revs in Tokyo, scoring a second-half try.
Springbok centre Damian de Allende and flank Juan Wilson started for the Saitama Wild Knights in their 57-19 win against the Sagamiara Dynaboars in Saitama. De Allende scored a brace of tries, while Wilson dotted down in the first half. Prop Pieter Scholtz and lock Friedle Olivier packed down for the Dynaboars.
Springbok duo Jesse Kriel and Faf de Klerk featured in the Yokohama Canon Eagles’ 50-26 win against the Toshiba Brave Lupus in Tokyo. Kriel dotted down twice for the visitors.
Springbok star Cheslin Kolbe scored eight points from the tee in the Suntory Sungoliath’s 49-28 defeat to the Kobe Steelers in Hyogo.
Ten South Africans were involved in the match between the Kubota Spears and Honda Heat in Tokyo, won 54-21 by the Spears. Malcolm Marx, Ruan Botha, Tyler Paul, Pieter Labuschagne and Merwe Olivier were in the Spears pack, with Rikus Pretorius starting in midfield. Marx scored a brace of tries, while Paul and Pretorius also dotted down. For the Heat, Franco Mostert, Janko Swanepoel and Matthys Basson featured in the pack and Dawid Kellerman started at centre.
Lock Lourens Erasmus started in the Toyota Verblitz’s 40-28 win against the Black Rams Tokyo.
Springbok flyhalf Manie Libbok scored a try and slotted two conversions in the Kintetsu Liners’ 29-19 loss to the Shimizu Koto Blue Sharks.
