Court Denies Bail To Controversial Lekompo Star Shebeshxt Once Again. The Polokwane Magistrate’s Court has rejected the bail application of popular Limpopo musician Lehlogonolo Katlego Chauke, better known as Shebeshxt.
In a firm ruling, the court stated that the accused failed to show exceptional circumstances why it would be in the interest of justice for him to be released on bail. As a result, Shebeshxt will remain in custody.
The decision comes after the 30-year-old lekompo artist faced serious charges linked to a shooting incident in Ladanna, Polokwane, in November 2025. He is accused of multiple counts of attempted murder and negligent discharge of a firearm.
This marks another setback for Shebeshxt, whose previous bail attempts have also been unsuccessful. Prosecutors strongly opposed the latest application, arguing that the seriousness of the allegations required him to stay behind bars.
Shebeshxt rose to fame with his energetic lekompo tracks and viral hits such as Rato Laka and Ke Di Shxt Malume. His raw style and street-edged lyrics have earned him a huge following, especially on TikTok and in township parties across Limpopo and beyond. However, his off-stage controversies have made him one of the province’s most talked-about and polarising figures.
The magistrate emphasised that the accused must present compelling reasons for release, a threshold the defence could not meet in this instance.
Reactions on social media have been mixed. Some fans expressed disappointment, while others supported the court’s cautious approach given the nature of the charges.
Shebeshxt will now remain in custody as the case proceeds through the justice system. The matter is expected to return to court for further hearings in the coming weeks.
