KindlyNxsh Channels African Heritage In Moving New Single “Todii.” KindlyNxsh is proving that meaningful music still has a place in today’s fast-moving soundscape. On May 8, 2026, the 23-year-old Zimbabwean-South African artist, born Anashe Ithiel Chizhande, released his deeply emotional new single “Todii,” a track that samples the iconic chorus from Oliver Mtukudzi’s 1999 classic and transforms it into a personal meditation on family, identity, sacrifice, and resilience.

The official music video, shot by CRTVSHOTS and co-edited by KindlyNxsh himself, premiered in the morning and quickly sparked conversation online. In the video description, the artist offered a simple but powerful tribute: “Long Live Tuku, from me to y’all.” The message honours the late Zimbabwean music legend Oliver Mtukudzi, affectionately known as Tuku, whose timeless vocals form the emotional heartbeat of the song.

Ahead of the release, KindlyNxsh shared a touching promotional clip featuring his grandmother. When asked what she could do to help change Zimbabwe, her heartfelt response became the emotional foundation of the record. The moment added a deeply human layer to the rollout and highlighted the song’s themes of heritage, responsibility, and perseverance.

Produced by KindlyNxsh himself, “Todii” blends modern hip-hop textures with the soulful and reflective essence of Mtukudzi’s original song, which was created during the late 1990s as commentary on hardship, loss, and the HIV/AIDS crisis. KindlyNxsh reimagines that spirit through a younger lens, speaking openly about emotional isolation, pressure, family separation, and faith.

Lyrics such as “Mama ain’t touched my skin in a year / Feel like I’m stuck in a booth” reveal a raw vulnerability that has resonated strongly with listeners. Throughout the song, he reflects on fear, emotional struggles, gratitude, and the burden of being the “soldier man” who must stay strong for everyone else.

The release carries even more weight when viewed against KindlyNxsh’s journey. Born in Zimbabwe on January 4, 2003, he moved to Mozambique as a toddler before eventually settling in South Africa. A self-taught producer and engineer, he left school in Grade 9 with the support of his family to pursue music full-time.

Before stepping into the spotlight as a solo artist, KindlyNxsh built a strong reputation behind the scenes, collaborating with major names including Blxckie, Sjava, AKA, Costa Titch, and Nadia Nakai. In early 2024, he fully embraced his identity as a performer and adopted the nickname “Young Soldier.”

Tracks like “Eish Chief” and “Don’t Braai Me (Soldier Man)” introduced fans to his energetic style, humour, and cultural pride. With “Todii,” however, he moves into more introspective territory, embracing his identity as a “product of Africa” while proudly celebrating his Zimbabwean roots beyond borders and labels.
