Munster are set to be boosted by the return of a key player ahead of Saturday’s crucial Vodacom URC clash against the Lions at Thomond Park.
Ireland flyhalf Jack Crowley missed Munster’s last two matches with a leg injury, but coach Clayton McMillan is optimistic the playmaker will be fit for the final-round showdown.
“Jack would be a strong possibility, I think it’s just a niggly injury,” McMillan said after their 26-7 defeat to Connacht in Galway.
However, there was less positive news regarding Munster’s talismanic captain Tadhg Beirne, who is carrying a knee injury.
“Tadhg, I wouldn’t think so,” McMillan added.
STATE OF THE URC: All to play for in final round
With only four points separating the fifth-placed Lions from ninth-placed Connacht, the outcome of Saturday’s encounter will be vital in determining the playoff positions.
The Lions’ six-match URC winning streak ended with a 31-7 reverse against Leinster in Dublin that saw them drop from third to fifth.
Munster are two points behind in sixth position.
Both teams will know what is required before kick-off, with the Saturday night match bringing down the curtain on the regular season.
