Cardiff forced into changes for Stormers showdown

Cardiff have made five changes for Friday night’s Vodacom URC match against the Stormers, with Leigh Halfpenny set for his Arms Park farewell.

The legendary Wales fullback, who will retire at the end of the season, has been named on the bench for the crucial encounter.

Cardiff are seventh on the log and aiming to reach the URC playoffs for the first time.

In the front row, coach Corniel van Zyl has rotated his props with Danny Southworth and Javan Sebastian starting, and Rhys Barratt and Keiron Assiratti moving to the bench.

With Josh McNally unavailable due to Royal Air Force duty, George Nott regains the No 4 jersey, partnering Rory Thornton.

TEAM: Stormers rejig backline for Cardiff clash

There are two changes in the backs, with Ioan Lloyd at No 10 after Callum Sheedy suffered a hamstring injury in the final moments of last week’s match against the Glasgow Warriors at Scotstoun.

Rory Jennings also returns to partner Ben Thomas in the midfield after Josh Adams was ruled out.
