Witness The Funk Officially Parts Ways With Moshine. South African music collective Witness The Funk (WTF) has officially announced its split from member Nhlakanipho Shongwe, popularly known as Moshine.
In a statement shared with supporters and industry stakeholders, the group confirmed that the separation is final and that the two parties are “no longer affiliated in any capacity.”
The collective described the decision as one that was not taken lightly, revealing that significant time, effort and opportunities were invested in trying to make the partnership work.
“We gave everything we had on our end — time, effort, chances, and grace — but despite our best efforts, it simply did not work out,” the statement read.
While the announcement may come as a surprise to fans who associated Moshine closely with the group, Witness The Funk acknowledged the strong connection supporters had built with him over the years. Despite this, the group made it clear that they are now entering a new chapter and intend to move forward independently.
The statement also included a direct message to promoters, publications, bookers and entertainment industry figures, requesting that Moshine’s name no longer be linked to the Witness The Funk brand in future bookings, promotions, events or media coverage.
“We have cut all ties officially, and we ask that this be respected across the board,” the group stated.
Although the split appears definitive, Witness The Funk emphasised that there is no bad blood between the parties. The collective wished Moshine success in his future endeavours, expressing hope that “the road ahead brings him everything he’s working toward.”
The group concluded the statement by thanking fans and supporters for their continued loyalty, promising that more is still to come from the collective despite the recent changes.
