Luis Enrique has shared his thoughts ahead of the 2026 UEFA Champions League final between Paris Saint-Germain and Arsenal in Budapest.
The PSG manager expressed confidence in his side while insisting that neither team should be considered favourites. Speaking during his pre-match press conference, Enrique praised Arsenal and manager Mikel Arteta for their achievements this season, particularly after winning the Premier League title.
He described both teams as having similar ambitions but different approaches, saying they are looking at the same destination, just taking different routes. The Spanish coach also highlighted PSG’s difficult journey to the final, noting that the defending champions had faced one of the toughest schedules in Europe over the past two seasons.
He said,
“Winning the UCL, it was historical last year for PSG. But winning it twice in a row that would be fantastic. It’s an extra motivation for us. I’m not surprised to see Arsenal winning the Premier League. Seven years under Arteta, excellent team, they’ve been the most consistent this year”.
According to Enrique, those challenges have helped his squad grow stronger and become better prepared for another major European showdown.
Arteta will be looking to write his name into the history books by leading Arsenal to their first ever Champions League title while Enrique will look forward to a back-to-back triumph which has only been achieved by Real Madrid.
