Schools wrap: Boishaai outmuscle spirited SACS

Paarl Boys’ survived SACS’ first-half fightback, while there were also notable wins for Paul Roos, Michaelhouse and Kingswood.

Boishaai put in a brutally physical display against SACS in Newlands, scoring four tries in a 32-16 win.

The visitors’ pack dominated the first 20 minutes and were rewarded with two well-worked tries – the first coming from a maul in the SACS red zone and the second with a pin-point break inside the SACS 22.

The hosts then got themselves back into the game, with flyhalf Jake Dave delivering a superb individual performance.

Dave slotted two penalties before a great run split the Paarl Boys’ defence. Dave then added a third penalty at the stroke of half-time to give SACS a 16-14 lead.

It was all Boishaai in the second half, though, as they scored two tries.

Elsewhere in the Western Cape, Paul Roos hammered Bishops 68-3, Rondebosch thrashed Durbanville 55-19 and Paarl Gim pummelled Oakdale 49-13.

In KwaZulu-Natal, Michaelhouse crushed Pretoria Boys’ High 53-17, DHS edged Westville 24-19 and Northwood beat Kearsney 45-34.

In the Eastern Cape, Kingswood bulldozed Muir 73-21, Graeme and Nico Malan settled for a 27-27 draw and Grey High humiliated Daniel Pienaar 94-5.

In the Free State, Diamantveld humbled Noord-Kaap 81-12 and Fichardtpark fell 51-17 to St Andrew’s College.

In the Noordvaal, Garsfontein beat Rustenburg 57-28, Monument smashed Menlopark 82-24 and Zwartkop edged Kempton Park 22-21.
