“I don’t know why you’ve been on my mind so much lately, Kiernan (AKA),” he reflected. “Sometimes it still feels like I can just pick up the phone and call you. Maybe we are still in denial about you really being gone. Deeply missed, bro.”

Forbes, widely known as AKA or “Supa Mega,” was tragically killed in February 2023 in a drive-by shooting outside a restaurant in Durban, KwaZulu-Natal, alongside his close friend Tebello Motsoane. His death sent shockwaves through the country and the global music community, cutting short the life of an artist who helped redefine South African hip-hop with chart-topping tracks, bold charisma, and a commanding stage presence.
Even after his passing, Forbes’ influence has not faded. His music continues to circulate widely, and his persona remains deeply embedded in popular culture. Fans still refer to him as “Supa Mega,” a name that has become shorthand for his larger-than-life legacy.
