Rondebosch fought back from 12 points down to win a pulsating Bish-Bosch derby in Cape Town, while Stellenberg earned an impressive win in Paarl.
A last-minute try from hooker Kwaza Gobingca sealed a 29-24 win for Rondebosch against Bishops on the Piley Rees Field.
It looked like Bishops’ day, with three first-half tries complemented by three conversions and a penalty from centre Eljaron Geduld giving the hosts a 24-12 lead at the break.
But Bosch turned it around after the restart, scoring three tries.
Meanwhile, Stellenberg ended the second term with a 48-24 win against Boland Landbou.
Captain Yanos Coetzee was among the seven Jade Brigade try-scorers, while flyhalf Ethan van Biljon added 13 points from five conversions and a penalty.
Boland Landbou managed four tries of their own but ultimately could not cope with the speed and power of Stellenberg.
Elsewhere in the Western Cape, winger Zachary de Kock scored a hat-trick in Wynberg’s 26-15 win against fierce rivals SACS.
In the Eastern Cape, Kingswood beat St Andrew’s 29-10, Selborne cruised to a 36-10 win against Cambridge, and Hudson Park overpowered Stirling 22-5.
In KwaZulu-Natal, Hilton edged Kearsney 31-27 and Michaelhouse beat Maritzburg College 24-17.
In Gauteng, Wesvalia held on for a thrilling 23-22 win against Klerksdorp, Noordheuwel beat Waterkloof 24-12, Pretoria Boys’ High hammered St Alban’s 68-20 and St John’s College did enough to beat St David’s 26-24.
