St Stithians fought back against rivals St John’s, while Michaelhouse and Dale were both victorious.
Hosts St John’s appeared to be in complete control when openside flank Shane Dalton, winger Ethan Francke and fullback Lwandile Khupe all dotted down in the first half for a 21-0 lead.
But the visitors responded after the break through centre Reece Hubner, and a brace from captain Siphosamandosi Cele snatched a 21-21 draw.
Elsewhere in Gauteng, St Benedict’s ended a five-match losing streak after slotting a late penalty to secure a 23-20 win over St David’s.
In KwaZulu-Natal, Michaelhouse edged rivals Hilton 20-16 and Kearsney humiliated St Alban’s 94-10.
In the Eastern Cape, Dale beat St Andrew’s 46-36, Selborne hammered Stirling 85-7 and Graeme College demolished Union 51-10.
