iFani Announces 8-Track Mixtape “Msebenzi Wam” South African rapper iFani has turned up the intensity ahead of his next release, unveiling a bold new mixtape titled Msebenzi Wam alongside artwork that reflects the project’s dark, unapologetic direction.
The Xhosa lyricist, who often refers to himself as iMfene (Baboon), introduced the project with a striking declaration: “BAXELELENI: iMfene ka Mamthembu ize nenye.”
Translated, the statement means, “Tell them: Mamthembu’s Baboon has brought another one,” signalling that another chapter in his musical journey is about to unfold.
Msebenzi Wam is an eight-track mixtape scheduled for release later this month. While announcing the project, iFani made it clear that it is intended for a mature audience, writing: “NO KIDS ALLOWED. Made for 
only.”
The cover artwork immediately captures attention. iFani is portrayed as a mysterious ninja-like figure with his face partially concealed beneath a black cloth, while a katana rests across his shoulder. Blue and white Xhosa beads stand out against the dark aesthetic, symbolising his cultural heritage.
Explaining the symbolism behind the artwork, iFani wrote: “The eyes are mine but [smoke] anee hearts ezi red 
your highness is in high school.”
He added: “Ndim uMxhosa (blue & white beads), uMfene oliNinja ophuma ebumnyameni.”
The rapper also shared a series of postscripts that hint at the mixtape’s uncompromising tone:
- PS: 8 songs. It’s a mixtape
- PS2: Kids will listen to 3rd Quadrant but not this one
- PS3: If you hear your name on any song, talk to your God or spiritual leader, don’t talk to me.
- PS4: The darkness turned me into a monster; only will understand.
With the release expected later this month, anticipation continues to build among iFani’s dedicated supporters, who are already rallying behind what promises to be another bold chapter in the rapper’s catalogue.
