OkaySwisher Rules Out “Up To Speed” Podcast Return Despite Reconciling With DJ Speedsta. South African hip-hop commentator OkaySwisher has set the record straight about where he stands with DJ Speedsta, revealing that while the pair have moved past their differences personally, he has no intention of returning to Up To Speed.

Speaking during a recent TikTok Live session, Swisher addressed the long-running speculation surrounding his relationship with the media personality. He made it clear that there is no longer any bad blood between them.
“We’re cool,” Swisher said, before explaining that although the friendship has been restored, returning to the podcast is not part of the plan. Instead, he said he would rather meet Speedsta over lunch and reconnect in a more personal setting than revisit their previous working relationship.
The comments, which were shared by SA Hip Hop 247, arrive months after Swisher’s exit from the podcast sparked widespread discussion within the local hip-hop community.
Swisher was one of the original co-hosts of Up To Speed, appearing alongside Fif_Laaa and DJ Speedsta as the show quickly became a popular platform for conversations about South African hip-hop, industry politics, music releases and cultural debates. Their chemistry earned praise from viewers, making the podcast a favourite among many fans.
However, the partnership eventually unravelled after disagreements surrounding payment. Swisher previously revealed that he stepped away because the episodes he participated in were not paid for. According to him, conversations about compensation were postponed in the show’s development, but those discussions never led to an agreement.
DJ Speedsta later responded by explaining that the podcast was still in its early stages and that the team was aware there would be no immediate financial compensation while the platform was being built.
The differing accounts divided fans online. Some believed Swisher was justified in expecting payment for his work, while others backed Speedsta’s long-term vision for growing the podcast before generating revenue.
Now, Swisher appears to have put the disagreement behind him without changing his position. His latest comments suggest that while the personal relationship has healed, he sees no reason to revisit a professional arrangement that ultimately did not work out.
His stance has been praised by many as a sign of maturity in an industry where disagreements often become public spectacles. Rather than reigniting old tensions, Swisher has chosen to separate friendship from business, extending an olive branch while maintaining clear professional boundaries.
DJ Speedsta has not publicly responded to Swisher’s latest remarks. In previous comments, however, he expressed a desire to keep the focus on growing the culture instead of dwelling on conflict.
Fans remain split on the situation. Some applauded Swisher for standing firm while showing respect, while others continue hoping the two will one day reunite on screen. For now, though, it appears a friendly lunch is far more likely than another episode of Up To Speed featuring the former co-host.
Whether that meeting eventually happens or not, Swisher’s message serves as a reminder that reconciliation does not always require rekindling old business relationships. Sometimes mutual respect is enough.
