Rassie Erasmus retained Herschel Jantjies in his Springbok squad but released Embrose Papier. Was it the right call?
Papier, who was named South Africa’s Vodacom URC Player of the Season after a standout campaign for the Bulls, made his first Test appearance in eight years when he started against Scotland at Loftus. He scored a first-half try before being substituted early in the second half.
Jantjies, who plays for French Top 14 club Bayonne, made his first Test appearance in three years when he came off the bench after 50 minutes against Wales at Kings Park. He also scored a try.

Jantjies, though, was preferred to Papier when Erasmus named his 43-man squad on Wednesday, with Cobus Reinach, Grant Williams and fit-again Morné van den Berg the other scrumhalves included.
