Stormers veteran Ali Vermaak has revealed that, despite turning out for Boland in the Currie Cup, he remains available for the Stormers in the Vodacom URC.
The loosehead prop packed down against the Stormers XXIII in the Cavaliers’ emphatic 41-3 Currie Cup victory last weekend, but says he has not completely severed ties with the Cape club due to a dual-contract arrangement.
“I’ll be available for the Stormers in the United Rugby Championship if they need me, and for Boland in the Currie Cup and SA Cup. So it’s not completely over yet,” the 37-year-old told Netwerk24.
Vermaak has only recently returned from the achilles tendon rupture he suffered against the Bulls in a URC clash in January.
“The passion is still there,” he said. “I feel I still have a lot to offer the game.
“One of my roles at Boland is also to share my knowledge with the younger players if they want to learn from me. I don’t want to be a coach, but I have experience and knowledge that I can pass on.”

Vermaak has also been impressed by the environment created by coach Hawies Fourie and forwards coach Pote Human.
“They’re brilliant. They’re great people who only want what’s best for the players and the union.
“One of our themes this year is ‘In the community, for the community’. They understand how passionate the Boland community is about rugby.
“It was incredible to experience all the support on Sunday. The atmosphere was fantastic.”
