Kate Henshaw, Linda Ejiofor-Suleiman and Gideon Okeke lead the ensemble cast of a stage adaptation of Bobo Omotayo‘s 2011 collection “London Life, Lagos Living,” which will run for three days at the Black Diamond Hotel in Victoria Island, Lagos, from Friday, August 28 to Sunday, August 30, 2026.
The musical play also features Olarotimi Fakunle, Chioma “Chigul” Omeruah, Sola Roberts and others. Omotayo‘s original collection follows a generation moving between London and Lagos, using humour to examine questions of love, class, ambition and identity. The stage version adapts that material into interwoven monologues performed alongside movement and original music, staged in the round so that the audience sits within the performance space rather than facing a conventional stage.
Artistic director Kenneth Uphopho, who has adapted the work for the stage before, said the source material lent itself readily to performance.
“Adapting London Life, Lagos Living for the stage was simple. Bobo Omotayo’s book already made people laugh because it is true. So we took his British residency plus NEPA, traffic, jollof, put it on a stage, and added a band. This musical theatre ensemble adaptation is about navigating two worlds: one where you queue, and one where you ‘manage.’ About greetings that last 10 minutes, and ‘how far’ that means everything. We use humour as our translator because sometimes the only way to explain ‘why is everyone shouting and smiling at the same time’ is to sing about it. So, if you’ve ever packed British politeness and tried to use it in Lagos traffic, welcome. You’re not alone.”
The production is a collaboration between Temple Productions and Pawstudios Africa. Ego Boyo, lead producer and managing director of Temple Productions, framed the story as one about identity and homecoming.

Co-producer Brenda Fashugba, co-founder of Pawstudios Africa, said the show reflects the texture of the city.

London Life, Lagos Living takes the culture shock we all live and turns it into song. It’s diaspora, it’s home, it’s traffic, it’s jara. And it belongs on this wonderful stage.“
Performances are scheduled for 7:00 p.m. on Friday, and at 4:00 p.m. and 7:00 p.m. on both Saturday and Sunday. Tickets are available at Here.
