Witness The Funk Keep Their Comeback Rolling With “Veza” Music Video Release. Witness The Funk have officially ended the wait for their latest visual offering, dropping the music video for “Veza” on YouTube.
The Durban gqom-trap pioneers announced the release with an energetic message to their fans, writing, “The wait is finally over Bafakazi; watch Veza now on YouTube!!” The group also revealed that the video was shot at their own “Magic City,” The Palace ZA, while giving special shout-outs to Money Mike SA and Lord Script SA. The visuals were directed by Michael X.
Set against the backdrop of The Palace ZA in Sandton, the video captures the electric atmosphere associated with Johannesburg nightlife. The premium venue, affectionately known as Magic City, provides a fitting setting for a track that blends the raw energy of gqom with the hard-edged bounce of trap.
“Veza” features Votron and arrives as the latest release in Witness The Funk’s ongoing run of new music, following “uQwembe” and “Mawungekho,” which features uZondi.
The new track also taps back into the sound that helped Witness The Funk establish themselves as one of the early names in South Africa’s gqom-trap movement. The group first gained major attention during their UKZN days with records such as “Nomusa” and “Wangnika,” helping carve out a distinctive sound that fused Durban’s house-rooted rhythms with trap influences.
Witness The Funk originally emerged as a trio of university students before evolving into a duo following the departure of founding member Moshine earlier this year. Since then, the group has continued to push forward with a consistent run of releases, signalling a fresh chapter in their story.
With “Veza,” Witness The Funk are once again bringing their signature energy to the forefront, this time with Johannesburg’s nightlife serving as the backdrop.
