Stormers homecoming for URC champ?

The Stormers are reportedly keen on re-signing a Springbok playmaker and fan favourite from next season.

According to RugbyPass Neil Fissler, scrumhalf Herschel Jantjies could be offered a route out of Bayonne – where he has a year left on his contract by Stormers director of rugby John Dobson.

Bayonne boss Laurent Travers is understood to be willing to let the 30-year-old leave, and Rassie Erasmus keen on Jantjies playing in South Africa after his Bok recall for the Nations Championship last month.

Jantjies made nearly 100 appearances for the Stormers and won the 2021-22 Vodacom URC title, and a return to Cape Town would be a welcome boost for Dobson following serious injuries to Imad Khan (knee) and Dewaldt Duvenage (broken arm).
