Springbok and Vodacom Bulls scrumhalf Embrose Papier is reportedly on the shopping list for a top club keen on filling a gap at No 9.
RugbyPass’ Neil Fissler reports that the Sale Sharks have reignited their interest in securing the services of Embrose Papier, who has entered the final year of his contract with the Bulls.
Papier previously made 11 appearances for Sale after joining on a short-term contract in September 2019. Earlier this year, the Premiership outfit reportedly offered to pay a transfer fee for the 29-year-old.
ICYMI: Sharks strike big deal with Bok champ
Papier returned to the Bok squad this year after an eight-year absence and earned his 11th Test cap against Scotland on 11 July, scoring a try.
His impressive form for the Bulls in the URC and Investec Champions Cup over the last few seasons recaptured Rassie Erasmus’ attention.
Sale director of rugby Alex Sanderson has brought in Xavier Roe from the Chiefs after losing Raffi Quirke to the Newcastle Red Bulls, but South African sources told Fissler that his interest in Papier remains strong.
