Ireland have been dealt a huge setback with the news that one of the country’s leading players is ruled out for the rest of the year.
According to RugbyPass, Munster has confirmed that flyhalf Jack Crowley is still recovering from a lower-limb vascular injury after being assessed by specialists, with medical advice ruling him out for the opening months of the 2026-2027 campaign.
Munster have stressed that ensuring Crowley makes a complete recovery is the priority rather than rushing his return.

The injury dates back to the closing stages of last season and forced Crowley to miss Munster’s Vodacom URC run-in, including their quarter-final defeat to the Bulls.
He was subsequently ruled out of Ireland’s Nations Championship campaign in July.
The extended absence could affect Crowley’s hopes of establishing himself as Ireland’s first-choice flyhalf ahead of next year’s World Cup in Australia, with Sam Prendergast and Ciaran Frawley both given opportunities.
Munster head coach Clayton McMillan reiterated the importance of allowing Crowley to make a full recovery.
“Jack Crowley is a very important player for Munster and Ireland with a big future in the game and ensuring he gets back to 100% is the priority,” McMillan said.
