SA Rugby is taking legal action against travel agencies it accuses of selling tickets to Saturday’s Springbok-All Blacks Test at Cape Town Stadium that they did not have.
The governing body has instructed its attorneys to act after disappointed fans were allegedly told that failures by SA Rugby were responsible for them being left without tickets for the Rugby’s Greatest Rivalry Test.
According to SA Rugby, those claims are “completely untrue”.
The organisation says the agencies sold customers the promise of tickets despite not having access to them and being unable to secure them.

SA Rugby says this was done in breach of the event’s terms and conditions of sale, adding that the agencies were never given access to tickets by either SA Rugby or its ticketing agency.
The governing body has described the conduct as illegal and reckless, alleging that the companies acted in pursuit of commercial gain at the expense of their clients.
“SA Rugby has turned the matter over to its attorneys,” the organisation said in a statement.
