Bok champs on Prem clubs’ shopping list

Two Springbok heavyweights are reportedly among several global stars being courted by English clubs for lucrative deals after next year’s World Cup.

According to Daily Mail Sport, loosehead prop Ox Nché and hooker Malcolm Marx are part of the draw, with growing Premiership investment – at Newcastle, Bath and Exeter – now testing a market long dominated by Japan and France. 

The 31-year-old Nché still plays for the Sharks, while reigning World Rugby Player of the Year Marx (32) is currently with the Kubota Spears in Japan.

New Zealand’s Beauden Barrett and Damian McKenzie are also touted, alongside contract-expiring All Blacks Will Jordan, Codie Taylor, Richie Mo’unga and Ardie Savea. 

Bristol coach Pat Lam was quoted saying that more money could bring more world-class talent into the Premiership, with talk of a second marquee slot and a rising salary cap.
