The Springboks have reached their highest points total in the history of the World Rugby rankings after sealing a 3-1 series victory over the All Blacks.
Saturday’s 43-28 triumph in Baltimore earned the world champions another 0.75 ranking points, taking them to 95.09.
South Africa had never previously broken through the 95-point barrier since the rankings were introduced in 2003.
The All Blacks remain second but drop to 91.15, with Ireland third on 88.08 and France fourth on 87.43.

The Boks’ new mark surpasses the ratings they achieved after each of their three World Cup triumphs during the rankings era.
South Africa were on 90.82 after lifting the Webb Ellis Cup in 2007, 94.20 following their 2019 triumph in Japan and 94.54 after successfully defending the title in France four years later.
Their previous high of 94.86 came after beating Ireland at Loftus Versfeld in July 2024.
The latest milestone also underlines the Boks’ rise during Rassie Erasmus’ tenure. When South Africa lost his first Test in charge against Wales in the USA in June 2018, they were seventh in the world on 82.78 points.
