No entrepreneur can afford to operate without a connected business. Digital connectivity not only simplifies and speeds up operations management but also allows entrepreneurs to monitor their business operations from anywhere in the world. As mobile technology advances, comprehensive digital solutions are becoming accessible to small and medium enterprises (SMEs).
Samsung has recently partnered with Mitsumi Distribution, a leading distributor of IT products and services across the Middle East and Africa. Announced at the partnership launch in Bryanston, Gauteng, in mid-September 2026, this collaboration allows South African SMEs to access Samsung’s Mobile eXperience portfolio through an authorised B2B channel. The partnership leverages Mitsumi’s regional distribution expertise and customer-first approach, expanding local access to Samsung business devices through a broader network of specialist retailers and online stores.
“One key consideration for SMEs is providing the right products enabled for enterprise solutions,” says Justin Hume, Vice President of Samsung Mobile. “The processing capability and performance of a device are instrumental in running core SME applications, such as ERP systems, Microsoft 365, and accounting software. Modern entrepreneurs are no longer confined to a physical office or storefront; business happens wherever they go.”
Hume explains that delivering an efficient user experience requires focusing on device hardware alongside technical support. “That’s where enterprise security comes in.”
Hume highlights Samsung Knox, a business platform for configuring and managing mobile devices securely. “Knox is built directly into the device hardware. You can also deploy Knox Manage, a cloud-based Enterprise Mobility Management (EMM) solution designed to oversee mobile fleets. This allows SME owners to support Bring Your Own Device (BYOD) policies while maintaining a centralised management console to regulate device usage and protect sensitive company data.”
Mobile Ecosystems Beyond the Office
Emphasising that business operations occur everywhere, Hume notes that the Samsung Mobile ecosystem integrates smartphones, tablets, and laptops into a unified workflow.
“When I start a task on my laptop, I can seamlessly continue it on my tablet and finalise it on my phone,” he explains.
To match the demands of modern business workflows, Samsung supports multi-agent and inter-agent AI collaboration on its user interface. This enables users to run artificial intelligence models—such as Gemini, Perplexity, or ChatGPT—across devices or assign distinct tasks to specialised AI agents simultaneously.
Furthermore, Hume emphasises service infrastructure as a foundational pillar for Samsung. “We maintain low device failure rates, but should an issue occur, our service infrastructure is robust.” He adds that time is critical for entrepreneurs who cannot afford extended downtime during device repairs.
Additionally, Samsung offers cross-platform file-sharing compatibility, integrating functionality with protocols such as Apple’s AirDrop.
“Technology adoption varies significantly across the SME landscape,” Hume notes. “Many businesses rely on WhatsApp as their primary communication platform.” To support this, messaging tools can be integrated across hardware using cross-agentic AI functionality.
A B2B Partnership Designed for SME Growth
“In South Africa, the telecommunications and IT sectors are predominantly driven by mobile operators and major retail chains,” says Manoj Changarampatt, Head of Business Unit at Mitsumi Distribution. “Historically, businesses purchased mobile handsets through large retailers or network operators.”
The strategic partnership between Samsung and Mitsumi Distribution improves access to hardware built specifically for business needs. “Small and medium businesses require robust enterprise devices, but they remain sensitive to procurement costs.”
Changarampatt notes that SME procurement often defaults to selecting the lowest-priced hardware options. “Through our distribution network, we deliver genuine Samsung products backed by a two-year warranty and localised technical support.”
As a dedicated technology distributor, Mitsumi Distribution continues to onboard authorised retailers to expand access to Samsung B2B products across South Africa.
With the small business sector expanding, Mitsumi Distribution is focused on supplying mobile tech solutions for entrepreneurs. “We see young entrepreneurs founding companies and driving economic activity,” says Changarampatt. “SMEs play a vital role in the economy, and we are scaling our distribution capabilities to support that growth.”
Siva Naicker, Head of Business Unit at Samsung, explains that offering mobile solutions across entry, mid-range, and high-end tiers is key to serving diverse business needs. “Providing a comprehensive product range ensures we deliver tailored value to every business user,” he concludes.
