In a recent update, it has been confirmed that the Jane Doe who made shocking rape allegations against Jay-Z has dropped her case.
A woman who previously accused American rapper Jay-Z of sexual assault has withdrawn her allegations, admitting in a new court declaration that her claims against the music mogul were false.
The woman, identified in court documents as Jane Doe, stated that she had never met or spoken to Jay-Z, whose real name is Shawn Carter, and acknowledged that he had never engaged in any inappropriate conduct towards her.
According to Rolling Stone, the woman made the admission in a 12-page declaration filed at a Manhattan federal court, bringing a significant development to the legal dispute that began in 2024.
In the declaration, she acknowledged that her allegations had caused the rapper considerable personal and reputational harm and expressed regret over the situation.
The woman’s new lawyer, James Blair Newman Jr., also confirmed that his client had withdrawn her accusations against Jay-Z while maintaining that she had experienced sexual assault involving someone else.
Newman explained that his client had been mistaken in identifying Carter as one of the alleged perpetrators and had offered an unconditional apology to the rapper and his family.
The development comes after Jay-Z filed a malicious-prosecution lawsuit against the woman and her former lawyer, Tony Buzbee, accusing them of attempting to pressure him into a financial settlement by threatening to damage his reputation.
The original lawsuit was filed in October 2024 and accused fellow music mogul Sean “Diddy” Combs of sexually assaulting the woman when she was 13 years old. It also alleged that another male celebrity was involved.
Jay-Z was subsequently named as the previously unidentified celebrity in an amended lawsuit filed in December 2024.
The rapper consistently denied the allegations and later pursued legal action against the woman and her legal representatives.
Following her latest declaration, Jay-Z has voluntarily dismissed the woman as a defendant in his ongoing malicious-prosecution lawsuit against Buzbee and his Texas-based law firm.
The woman also stated that she had neither received nor been promised any financial compensation in exchange for withdrawing her allegations.
Although the accusations against Jay-Z have now been formally retracted by the woman who made them, the separate legal proceedings involving her former legal representatives remain ongoing.
