Nigerian singer-songwriter and record producer Young Jonn has released his new EP, Dear London. The seven-track EP arrives at the perfect time, alongside a milestone moment: his debut headline performance at the 12,500-capacity OVO Arena Wembley in London, held that same day. The timing carries extra weight, since Young Jonn was reportedly granted leave to visit the UK for the long-anticipated show after a decade of being barred from the country, and he conceived Dear London as something of a victory lap marking that return.
The EP opens with the aptly titled Destiny, and closes with Ws in the Chat, an uptempo salute to romance and success, and runs through tracks including By 4, Shege, Elumelu, Glass in the Air, and Hold Somebody. Notably, the project carries no guest features at all, Young Jonn handles every performance himself, putting his own vocals and songwriting at the center of the work rather than leaning on collaborators, as he has on past hits.
Thematically, the pursuit of money remains central to Young Jonn’s worldview throughout the project, continuing an ethos that has powered much of his catalogue and, more broadly, contemporary Afrobeats’ continuous rise. Across the seven songs, he delivers a mix of melodic performances and rhythmic productions that reflect his London experiences through introspective lyrics, giving fans different sides of his artistry in one concise body of work.
Dear London arrives less than a year after the melodic leap of his sophomore album, Blue Disco, which debuted at number one on Apple Music Nigeria’s albums chart, and follows his 2024 debut album, Jiggy Forever. The project positions Young Jonn as a star ready to join the roster of Afrobeats acts who have made London a second home, closing out an eventful September that also included his single Let It Go.
