The Lions have extended the contract of one of their standout players by three years.
Flyhalf Chris Smith, who joined the Pride last year from French Pro D2 club Oyonnax, will remain in Joburg until 2029.
‘The General’ scored 154 points in 18 URC matches last season as the Lions reached the quarter-finals for the first time, and added 28 points in three EPCR Challenge Cup appearances.
The 32-year-old started the Lions’ 41-35 defeat to the touring All Blacks last month, slotting all five of his team’s conversions, before converting all three tries and adding two penalty goals in their season-opening URC win against Leinster at Ellis Park last Saturday.

Smith began his senior career at the Pumas before spending five years with the Bulls.
