Stade Français have suffered three injury setbacks ahead of their opening Investec Champions Cup clash against the Bulls at Loftus Versfeld on Saturday.
Hooker Lucas Peyresblanques, No 8 Yoan Tanga and centre Noah Nene were all forced off during the French club’s 30-22 Top 14 victory over Montpellier at the weekend.
Peyresblanques suffered the most serious injury, fracturing his fibula after being cleared out at a breakdown in the 64th minute. The 27-year-old underwent surgery on Sunday.
“It’s serious for Lucas,” Stade Français coach Paul Gustard said. “We risk losing him for five to six months.”
ACKERS: Bulls can’t afford to relax
Tanga left the field after just nine minutes with a rib injury, while Nene was replaced in the 18th minute after hurting his right ankle in a tackle.
Gustard indicated that Nene could be sidelined for around two weeks, pending further medical examinations, while the extent of Tanga’s injury remains unclear.
Stade Français last faced the Bulls in January 2025 when an understrength team suffered a 48-7 defeat in Pretoria.
