K.O Announces New Single “SHUMI” Featuring Blue Pappi. K.O is preparing to usher in the summer season with new music, joining forces with rising Ladysmith rapper Blue Pappi for a fresh collaboration titled “SHUMI.”
Taking to social media, The Skhanda World founder announced the upcoming release, giving fans a first look at the single ahead of its release this Friday. “NEW SINGLE OUT THIS FRIDAY! #SHUMI K.O ft. #BLUEPAPPI Summer shuuuuun
.” K.O wrote.
The announcement came with a teaser featuring the song’s cover artwork, which showcases a woman’s silhouette with a full afro and adorned hands resting on her shoulders against a warm yellow background. The title “SHUMI” stands out across the lower part of the artwork in bold green, red and gold lettering, reinforcing the release’s colourful summer aesthetic.
The new single arrives during a milestone year for K.O, who has been marking two decades in the music industry while continuing to expand his catalogue. Earlier in 2026, the rapper reflected on his journey with “20 Summers” before joining Danya Devs and Scotts Maphuma on the groove-driven track “Hotela.” Known for helping shape South African hip-hop through his work with Cashtime and the Skhanda sound, K.O continues to explore new collaborations while maintaining his position in the industry.
His latest move brings him together with Blue Pappi, a member of the Qwellers collective who has steadily established himself as one of the promising names in the new generation of South African hip-hop. The Ladysmith artist has attracted attention for his introspective songwriting, melodic delivery and ability to weave Zulu and English into emotionally driven records.
Blue Pappi’s growing catalogue includes the 2025 album Emadlelweni Aluhlaza, whose title translates to “green pastures,” as well as the Road to Ehlane EP and his more recent mixtape, EHLANE. His collaborations with artists such as Sjava, Blxckie, Ma-E and Young Stunna have further expanded his presence across the local music scene.
The pairing with K.O introduces an interesting meeting of generations, bringing the veteran rapper’s established delivery together with Blue Pappi’s melodic approach. While details about the song’s production and lyrical direction remain limited, the summer-themed announcement points towards a release designed to capture the energy of the warmer months.
