Blxckie Reveals The Creative Process Behind “Press” With Usimamane. Blxckie has shared the story behind his collaboration with Usimamane, “Press,” revealing that the track was created and completed in a single day. What began as a morning beat-making session quickly turned into a finished record once the two artists entered the studio.
Blxckie explained that he knew he had a session scheduled with Usimamane and wanted to make the most of their limited time together. He spent the morning working on beats and creating unfinished song ideas, leaving room for different creative directions when they met in the studio.
“I was making, like, I had songs and then I made spaces, right? So that he can, so that I can have options when I get there, because I knew the session wasn’t gonna be, like, the whole day,” he said. “So things would move quicker. Let me just put some vibes out with spaces.”
One of those ideas eventually became the foundation for “Press.” After preparing the beat and leaving space for the verses, Blxckie headed into the studio, where the collaboration came together without the need for an extended recording process.
Usimamane recorded his verse before Blxckie laid down his own verse and the hook. Blxckie then worked on the editing and arrangement, bringing the different elements together to complete the song.
“We finished it there,” Blxckie recalled. “So that song was made that day, and we finished it that day, and it sounds exactly how it sounded that day.”
The rapper’s account highlights the spontaneous approach behind “Press,” with both artists capturing the energy of the initial session rather than spending days revisiting the material. The finished record retained the sound and feel it had when they first created it.
For fans of Blxckie and Usimamane, the revelation offers a glimpse into how the collaboration came to life. Their ability to turn an early idea into a completed track in just one studio session shows how preparation and creative chemistry can come together to produce music without a lengthy process.
