Blxckie Revisits His Roots As He Confirms “YENA” Album Release Date. Blxckie is taking it back to where it all began as he prepares to usher in a new era of his music career with his upcoming album, YENA.
The rapper confirmed the project’s release date in a simple Instagram post captioned “YENA 30/10
.” The announcement carries a deeper meaning, particularly for those who have followed Blxckie’s journey over the years. The green heart connects with his identity as Somnyama Yena Yedwa, while the album title signals a moment of reflection as he prepares to introduce his latest body of work.
Listed for pre-release under Somnyama Music Entertainment and EMPIRE, YENA is reportedly set to feature 15 tracks. Its cover artwork adds to the anticipation, depicting a lone silhouette standing before a glowing green doorway surrounded by darkness. The image evokes the feeling of stepping into a new chapter while leaving the past behind.
However, it was the footage accompanying the announcement that gave fans another reason to celebrate. Rather than sharing a conventional album trailer, Blxckie posted a black-and-white throwback video of himself as a teenager, taking viewers back to March 2016.
The clip captures a young Sihle outdoors with his crew, dressed in denim jackets and Adidas T-shirts as they freestyle, exchange gestures and enjoy the moment together. With plastic cups in hand and the original camera timestamp still visible, the footage offers an unfiltered glimpse into the environment that surrounded the rapper before his rise to prominence.
Fans quickly recognised the significance of the throwback, filling the comments section with nostalgic reactions. One user recalled the days when the crew travelled together, writing, “Back when there was eleven niggas in a bus
.” Others reflected on the passage of time with comments such as “10 years later” and “King bhucuza .”
The reactions highlight just how far Blxckie has come since those early days in Sydenham Heights, when he was building his craft alongside the people closest to him. A decade later, he is preparing to deliver an album that arrives with a reminder of the journey that shaped him.
By bringing the old footage into the YENA announcement, Blxckie has given the release date a personal touch. The moment connects the teenager who was finding his voice with the established artist preparing to open another chapter in his career.
With YENA arriving on 30 October, Blxckie is ready to take listeners into his next era while giving them a glimpse of the roots that remain part of his story.
