Coach Johan Ackermann couldn’t be happier with Curwin Bosch, who has hardly put a foot wrong since joining the Bulls.
The former schoolboy prodigy has slotted into the Bulls systems with ease, and offered calm and solidity playing at flyhalf.
The Bulls’ attacking stats for the URC are among the best, with Bosch being acclaimed for getting his backline away.
“I’ve never seen a guy kick a ball so easily,” said Ackermann, who also has Bok great Handré Pollard in his squad.
He said the dynamic between the pair ensured a healthy rivalry and pushed each player to perform week after week.
With Pollard now out injured, Bosch has been given the job for Saturday’s URC clash against the Scarlets.

“We’ve been really pleased with Curwin’s performances this season, and this is another opportunity for him. There must be competition every week. Nobody can say ‘I’m No 1, I’ve got the jersey’. It must be earned.
“If Curwin plays well it puts pressure on Handré to perform, and if Handré plays, hopefully he plays well enough to make it difficult for us to leave him out. That’s the luxury we have this season that we didn’t have last season, with healthy competition in that position.
“And we’ve got Luan Giliomee in there too, training with him [at flyhalf] now and then. Time will tell, but it’s good competition and we believe Curwin can do the job for us.”

Ackermann recalled just a single day when Bosch kicked poorly, but said that was a rare failing when measured against his achievements.
“If you watch him at training, I’ve never seen a guy kick a ball so easily. He doesn’t make it look hard. He can kick the ball from one 22 to the other 22, and from all over the park. From a timing perspective he’s one of the best kickers.”
