Scrumhalf Morné van den Berg says the Springboks played to their strengths in Saturday’s 66-7 rout of Italy in Turin.
The world champions ran riot in the first half, scoring six tries to take a commanding 45-0 lead into the break.
Van den Berg was named Man of the Match after he and flyhalf Sacha Feinberg-Mngomezulu dictated play while they were on the field.
“The loss against Australia [in Perth] really hurt,” the 29-year-old said in his post-match TV interview “For us as a team, it’s not good to lose in this jersey, so it was important to bounce back and I’m proud of the boys for doing that.”

Van den Berg was quick to praise his teammates for not deviating from the plans.
“We played to our strengths but the Italians are tough, so credit to them. They’re hard men but credit to our boys who really stuck to our systems and forced our game onto them,” he said.
Attention now turns to France in Paris next Friday night.
“Tonight, tomorrow, we’ll review our game and look where we can get better and then prep for them and force our game onto them as well,” Van den Berg said.
