Asante Africa Foundation is proud to announce two significant appointments that will strengthen our commitment to Educating Children and Transforming Worlds.

As an organization, the Asante Africa team remains deeply committed to preparing Africa’s rural young people who are already championing change while they architect their future in the green and digital economy and lifting their families and communities.

These two new appointments are a critical part of Asante Africa’s strategic plan to deepen and expand the organization’s leadership capacity. These two proven leaders will support the shift of the current CEO’s priorities toward board governance activities and increasing visibility in the global philanthropy arena.

Introducing:

 

GEOFFREY KASANGAKI, Deputy CEO – Strategic Programs Development and Impact.

In his prior capacity as Country Director – Uganda, Geoffrey has consistently demonstrated unwavering commitment to our mission and vision and has been instrumental in achieving significant milestones for Asante Africa Foundation, through the toughest of times during the pandemic. In this new role, Geoffrey Kasangaki will lead our efforts in scaling past program innovations, and shaping and executing impactful programs that will enhance the lives of the children, youth, and communities we serve in rural East Africa. His deep understanding of our organization’s vision and his tireless dedication to our mission make him the perfect fit for this critical leadership position. Geoffrey holds an International Diploma in Leadership and Management from Luxury Academy London, MBA Oil and Gas Management from Uganda Christian University, and a Bachelor of Information Systems from Makerere University. He also holds a Monitoring and Evaluation Certification from the International Training Centre of the International Labor Organisation and he is currently pursuing a postgraduate program in Gender and Local Economic Development at Makerere University.

WEVYN MUGANDA, Deputy CEO – Strategic Partnerships and Development.

In this role Wevyn Muganda will lead our efforts to forge crucial partnerships that will amplify our impact and extend our reach. She joins us with her extensive experience in youth engagement and empowerment, human rights, peacebuilding. She has engaged in different United Nations initiatives where she implemented multi-country programs, influenced youth policies through the UN Security Council, UN General Assembly, High Level Political Forum, Transforming Education Summit, and Generation Equality Forum among others. With her innovative vision and passion for our mission, we are poised to reach new heights and create transformative partnerships that will drive positive change in East Africa. Wevyn holds a Postgraduate Diploma in International Gender Studies from the University of Iceland, an Undergraduate degree in Actuarial Science from the University of Eldoret, and graduated from the Leadership, Organizing, and Action Program at the Harvard Kennedy School.

Advancing Our Future

 

These appointments mark an important milestone on our journey of realizing our 2021-2025 Strategic Plan.  Over these next two years, with Wevyn Muganda and Geoffrey Kasangaki with our Senior Executive Team,  we will continue to drive local innovation and build transformative global partnerships. Innovations such as our Digital Apprentice program will scale across 10,000 youth annually. Our active parental engagement initiatives will prepare families to educate all their children not just one or two. Our youth-led climate action businesses will employ thousands within their local communities to slow urban migration.

As a part of our ethos, our leadership development, and our guiding principles such as organizational promotions and appointments are a part of our ongoing journey to leverage Africa’s existing and rising talent. This ensures local wisdom and knowledge where we seek to have the most impact while becoming even more globally collaborative and inclusive.
