AKA’s Father Tony Forbes Reveals He’s Working On His TV Reality Show. Tony Forbes, father of the late South African rapper AKA, has opened up about an exciting new project he is working on—a personal reality show that aims to blend healing, creativity, and heartfelt tribute to his son.
In a recent interview on the SMWX Podcast, Forbes revealed that the series will explore his journey of reconnecting with his past and finding solace through various personal and artistic endeavours.
“Personally, I’m working on my reality show. It’s about doing things which I can find some healing. Doing things that make me more healthy. And also doing things that make me reconnect with Kiernan’s past,” Forbes shared. The series promises to be deeply personal, offering fans an intimate look at his life as he navigates grief and cherishes the legacy of AKA.
Among the planned episodes, Forbes highlighted one particularly special segment centred around music. “One episode is about me singing. I’ve always wanted to record a song, so in this episode I’m going to sing. Maybe we’ll do the father-son song. I want to do a gospel song, like singing in the church with a choir,” he explained. He also teased a creative idea of collaborating posthumously with his son, adding vocals to some of AKA’s tracks, such as “Last Time,” blending their voices in a unique father-and-son tribute.
Beyond music, Forbes revealed plans to explore other aspects of personal growth and connection. He mentioned learning to cook and celebrating moments in ways that honour AKA’s life. “There’s an episode I want to celebrate Kiernan and pay tribute to Kiernan my way, as his dad,” he said, emphasising that the show will be both reflective and uplifting.
Forbes’ reality series is set to be a heartfelt journey of healing, artistry, and remembrance, offering fans a glimpse into the life of a father striving to preserve the memory of his son while finding his own path forward.
