Liverpool Football Club have completed the signing of Alexander Isak on a record British transfer fee for any player.
The Premier League Champions sealed the deal for Alexander Isak on deadline day of the 2025 summer transfer window. Liverpool paid £125 million for the Sweden international which is not just a club record but also the highest in Britain.
The Reds confirmed Isak’s deal on its official website on Monday, September 1, 2025, after going back and forth with Newcastle. According to reports from Anfield, he signed a six-year deal which will keep him at Merseyside until 2031.
The 25-year-old expressed his excitement about joining Liverpool while speaking on the club’s website.
He said,
“I feel amazing. It’s been a long journey to get here. But I’m super-happy to be a part of this team, this club and everything it stands for. It’s something I’m proud of and I’m really looking forward to it. I am just happy it’s done and that I can get back to work. I’m looking forward to seeing my teammates and the fans, and getting back out there.”
He also spoke about what he will bring to the club most especially goals.
“I think I have a lot to give, I think I have a lot to improve. I’m a striker but I always want to give as much as possible to the team, mainly goals but much more than that as well. I want to win everything. Yeah, [as simple as that].”
Isak netted 54 times in 86 Premier League outings for the Magpies, with 23 of those goals coming last season, when he finished second behind Mohamed Salah in the race for the Golden Boot.
This deal will overtake the £115 million that Chelsea paid Brighton for Moises Caicedo during the 2023 summer transfer window. Liverpool had a bid of £110m plus add-ons rejected for Isak at the start of August as Newcastle were unwilling to sell him without certain conditions being met.
